Sprouts | Radish 'Daikon'

Daikon radish sprouts have a slightly spicy taste and are packed with vitamins. With a characteristic fresh, slightly peppery flavour, these are a good addition to salads, sandwiches, and sauces.

Instructions for use

• Fill the sprouting tray with tap water up to the bottom of the grid.
• Sprinkle a thin layer of seeds evenly and with a little space between them on the grid.
• Place the sprouting tray at room temperature, in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight.
• Check the water level daily and top it up to the grid if necessary. As long as the seeds do not yet have sprout roots, they must remain moist, but not soaking wet.

After three days, the seeds will be attached to the grid with their sprout roots, and you can change the cloudy water.

Continue to check the water level daily. The sprout roots should be in the water, but keep the sprouts dry. This reduces the risk of mould problems.

The sprout roots above the grid may look somewhat fluffy. It looks like mould, but usually, it is root hairs. Root hairs grow in a nice circle from the sprout roots and disappear if you make them wet with a plant sprayer.

After 5 to 7 days, the sprouts will be 5 to 7 cm long and can be harvested. Cut them with scissors just above the grid.
