Olmix iron sulfate (Ferromel) is a versatile product used in garden and lawn care to combat moss and enrich the soil. Thanks to its high iron concentration, it helps make lawns stronger and greener, while effectively eliminating unwanted moss. The product works quickly, increases the grass's resilience, and is ideal for use a week before scarifying.

Iron sulfate also acidifies the soil, which is beneficial for some plants, but for your lawn it's wiser to apply lawn lime after use to neutralize the pH value.

  • For a quick lawn recovery
  • Effective action against moss in the lawn
  • Iron sulphate gives a fresh green leaf colour to the grass
  • Turns the Hydrangea blue

    Soil acidification

Iron sulfate lowers the pH value of the soil. It is advisable to spread lawn lime after treatment to neutralise the acidity and prevent future moss growth.

    Application

Iron sulfate can be applied by mixing it with water or spreading it evenly over the lawn. The best times for use are spring and autumn , when the lawn is actively growing. Regular maintenance with iron sulfate supports a moss-free, strong, and fresh-green lawn all year round.

    • Sprinkle: Mix 2 to 3 kg of iron sulfate with 4 to 5 kg of sand for even distribution over 100 m². Apply this preferably on a dry day and before rain is expected.
    • Pouring or spraying: Dissolve 250 grams of iron sulfate in 100 liters of water to treat an area of 100 m². You can also use a 10-liter watering can with 25 grams of iron sulfate.
    • First mow the lawn: Mow the lawn and wait 3 days before applying the iron sulphate.
    • Remove after death: After a few days, remove the dead moss with a rake.
Tip! Avoid contact of the product with paving, tiles, or other surfaces, as this may cause stains.

    Acid-loving plants

Plants that benefit from iron sulfate include rhododendrons, azaleas, hydrangeas, and camellias . These plants require acidic soil, and iron sulfate helps make the soil more acidic.

    Hydrangea blue colors

Iron sulfate can be used to color hydrangeas blue by lowering the soil acidity. In acidic soil, the flowers will turn blue, while in neutral or alkaline soil, they will turn pink or red.

Sprinkle about 30 grams of iron sulfate per bush, or dissolve a tablespoon in 4 liters of water and feed the plant, preferably in early spring or early fall. It works best in acidic soil (pH below 6).

Please note: it may cause rust stains on paving, so be careful when applying.
