'Rijnsburger 4' onion produces beautiful round, straw-yellow onions that store excellently. As soon as the foliage begins to die off, the onions should be pulled up.
- Onions have a long growing season.
- Early sowing, i.e. March to mid-April at the latest, is therefore important. Sowing later increases the chance of onions with thickened stems.
- Row spacing 25 cm, thin to 5-10 cm.
! Placing strongly scented plants such as chamomile, savory, and carrots in the immediate vicinity of the onions could have a disruptive effect on the onion fly.
As soon as the foliage starts to die off in September, the onions must be pulled up. The bulbs must be able to dry out properly. The onions can be stored well until spring, provided they are kept cool and dry. Keep so-called 'thick-necked' onions separate and eat them first.
