Leaf mustard ‘Purple Frills’ has finely incised leaves with a beautiful deep purple colour and a spicy taste. It can be eaten at both a young and mature stage.
In the Himalayan region of India, leaf mustard has been cultivated and eaten for over 5000 years. In many other countries, leaf mustard is also part of daily meals and can be prepared just like spinach and other leafy greens.
It is very winter-hardy. Sowing in summer allows you to harvest leaf mustard in autumn and winter. If sown in early summer, the plants tend to bolt easily, but then produce beautiful, edible yellow flowers.
TIP: also suitable as Babyleaf (sowing period: May-August)!
