As a sprouting vegetable, arugula has a rather sharp and somewhat nutty taste. The sprouts are delicious as a garnish and can also be used well in salads.
Sprouting dish not included
Instructions for use
- Fill the sprouting dish with tap water up to the bottom of the grid.
- Sprinkle a thin layer of seeds evenly and with some space between them on the grid.
- Place the sprouting dish at room temperature, in a light place, but not in direct sunlight.
- Check the water level daily and replenish it to the grid if necessary. As long as the seeds do not yet have germ roots, they should remain moist, but not soggy.
After three days, the seeds will be attached to the grid by their germ roots and you can change the cloudy water.
Continue to check the water level daily. The germ roots should be in the water, but keep the seedlings dry. This reduces the risk of mold problems.
The germ roots above the grid may look somewhat fluffy. It resembles mold fluff, but usually these are root hairs. Root hairs grow in a nice circle from the germ roots and disappear if you wet them with a plant mister.
After 7 to 12 days, the seedlings will be 3 to 5 cm long and can be harvested. Cut them just above the grid with scissors.
